"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people."

Introducing QWO's New Respite Program Director

In May, Terri Buckmaster (pictured third from left) joined the Quiet Waters team as the new Respite Program Director.   In a comprehensive effort to expand the organizational capacity to serve people with DD and their families,  Terri is charged with the responsibilities of managing the operations of Martha’s Place and implementing a new social-recreational day program.   After a highly competitive selection process, it was with great excitement that QWO offered the position to Terri.   “She is enthusiastic, experienced, and has a deep passion for the mission of the organization,” says Executive Director Steve Ristow, “This hire is a critical step in laying the infrastructure for the ministry to grow exponentially  and Terri’s the right person to help us.”   Terri was raised right here in the Portland-area with seven other brothers and sisters.  She graduated from Portland State with a degree in Social Work and has dedicated her life to serving people with developmental disabilities.  Previous employment includes directing the Karen Gaffney Foundation (advocating for the empowerment of people with DD) and the YWCA in Portland (assisting the Director of Development).  In the next few months, Terri will dedicate her time to meeting people involved with QWO, mastering Martha’s Place, and developing a plan for the ministry’s newest service—a social-recreational day program.  Drop her an e-mail to welcome her at terri@quietwatersoutreach.org.
